Keep Your Quick Step Flooring In Pristine Shop Floor Condition

You'll have paid out a lot for your Quick Step flooring; money you will have spent because you were impressed by the beautiful natural effect and the uncluttered feel that laminate or parquet flooring can have on your room. So after paying out, and investing time in carefully laying out your flooring, you will want to do all you can to ensure it stays as pristine and lush as the day it was laid.

Of course one of the things that both laminate and parquet floorings are renowned for are their hard-wearing qualities. They can easily absorb knocks and bumps that may chip tiles, or cut or scratch vinyl floors. However, even these floorings are susceptible to long-term wear and tear; but Quick Step flooring has its patented Scratch Guard technology, which purportedly makes their floors much less prone to such damage.

But what can you do to prolong the life of your flooring, Quick Step or otherwise? Well, try following the following hand tips to keep your floor the glistening pride of your rooms.

The first thing is to make sure, as far as possible, that you do all of the necessary preparation to get your floor well founded in the first place. If your sub floor is level and even, and the correct gaps are left around the margins for expansion, then you will minimise the chances of distortion and warping. It is these processes that can create the raised areas that suffer greater wear and tear, and so start the visual deterioration of your floor. A stitch in time saves nine, as they say.

Any furniture that is liable to be moved often, or put under repeated pressure, such as chairs, sofas or even tables, should have some form of protection placed at the point of contact with the floor. Rubber pads, or plastic cups will do the job nicely- you don't want indentations or scratched areas. Also, you must avoid using acrylic or wax floor finishing’s – these can seriously damage the surface laminate, and completely wreck the attractiveness of your floor.

It is important that any mopping is damp, rather than wet, mopping- don't sluice the whole surface with water- that increases the likelihood of water penetrating the joints, and the start of those unsightly joint swells. It's also a good idea to avoid the mopping of laminate floors until they have settled in – you don't want to run the risk of the newly laid boards absorbing water, and swelling. Check your manufacturer’s instructions to see what their recommended interval is.

After that period, sweeping and vacuuming at regular intervals, will help suppress dust and abrasive grit that might cause light scratching. So in the main, you can see that looking after your Quick Step flooring is basic common sense- look after it, and it'll continue to be a glowing feature of your room.
